Listener Memory

I am working on a new feature to add to the website.  There are a lot of things that have come and gone in the Chippewa Valley, and I would like to take some time to remember them.  With your help, I think we could all create a nice trip down memory lane!

A couple of days ago, a listener sent me a nice link from waaaaaaay back.

...I do remember going to Fournier's on Friday nights to see bands in the late 60's and 70's until torn down in 1972. Then there were/are the ThunderMen. Good old rock and roll! These guys played in and around Eau Claire for years and as far as I know, still do. I also remember going to the Pines in Bloomer on Saturday nights to see bands. I like Bob Remembers on the radio. It brings back memories from the old days. Remember the Farmer Store? I used to buy my Wrangler jeans there for $3.98 back in the 60's. Across the street was S. S. Kresge's. had a great lunch counter.

Joe also sent a link to some pictures of when Buddy Holly and The Crickets performed here in 1959, only a week before his untimely death.  I'll share it with you here:  http://www.buddyhollyandthecrickets.com/WDP/eauclaire.html

As for the Farmer Store...I only wish that there was a store in town that still sold a good pair of jeans for under 4 dollars.  My wallet might be a little more full!

Jules. I remember meeting friends at Kresge's and having a soda or something. What a place!

Does anyone remember going to Kresge's store downtown to get a soda at the soda fountain counter?
